The higher the tick rate, the faster the server processes what's going on in the game. For comparison, Battlefield 5 servers run at a tick rate of 60Hz and Halo: The Master Chief Collection just upgraded its servers to a 60Hz tick rate, while Fortnite, a comparable battle royale, runs at 30Hz.
